Police looking for man who cut off electronic monitor

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A man is wanted by the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team after he cut off his electronic monitoring device, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

Channing Avery Banks, 19, is wanted on outstanding warrants for larceny from person, possession of stolen property, and interfering with an electronic monitoring device, the official report states.

Banks was released from jail and placed on electronic monitoring on August 28. On Tuesday, he cut of the device, police said.

He was last seen near his home on Cates Street in Charlotte. He is 5'10", and weighs around 150 pounds, according to the release.

Anyone with information on Bank's whereabouts is asked to immediately contact the Violent Criminal Apprehension Team at (704)336-VCAT, or call 911.
