Police: Man arrested for sweepstakes parlor robbery

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

A man was arrested for an armed robbery at a local sweepstakes parlor, according to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department.

The robbery happened Monday around 9:30 p.m. at the Pot O Gold Sweepstakes Center on Old Pineville Road in south Charlotte.

The victim told police that a man came to the counter, pulled out a gun, and demanded money. After giving the man money, the gunman took the victim to the bathroom and told him not to come out, police said.

Michael Antoine Wright, 40, was arrested at his home on Wingate Avenue Monday night, just a short time after the robbery, police told WBTV. He was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon and first degree kidnapping.
