CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Fans who showed up to Bank of America Stadium just before game time Sunday were in for a much longer wait than usual.
New NFL security measures went into place before the game with the New Orleans Saints. All fans entering the stadium must now be screened with a metal detecting wand which caused a back-up in the lines. Some fans say they missed the first quarter of the game because of the wait.
Panthers stadium manager Scott Paul says the team released the news in plenty of time to let fans know they should come earlier than usual. Paul says fans should still plan to come at least 15 minutes earlier than they normally would to allow time for lines.
Paul also suggests removing any metal items from pants and pockets and hold them in your hands to keep lines moving faster.
