A trio of Batmobile® replicas, an array of Carroll Shelby's high-performance Mustangs and Cobras, the motorcycles that put America on two wheels and a water-skiing squirrel named Twiggy are just a few of the attractions for this year's Food Lion AutoFair.
The Food Lion AutoFair kicks off Thursday, September 20 and runs through Sunday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
The Batmobile® is so popular individuals and companies have been building replicas of the Caped Crusader's sleek black care fore years. This year, you can get a glimpse of three privately owned versions. One is modeled after the 1966 television show, and the other two are from the 1989 and 2005 movie franchises.
Nearly three dozen classic Shelby Mustangs will also be on hand at the show to celebrate 50 years of super-fast vehicles. AutoFair's Shelby display includes several Cobras, GT350/GT500s from 1965 through today, a Sunbeam Tiger, Series 1 and the spunky turbo-four Dodge products from the 1980s and 1990s.
The Privette Collection of Homemade Transportation hails from Middlesex, North Carolina. After a lifetime of farming, Vernell Privette turned his attention to building cars out of sheet metal and recycled components. Each vehicle is able to drive legally on the road.
Also at the AutoFair - an international array of motorcycles showcasing America's love of two wheels.
Twiggy the Water-Skiing Squirrel will make special appearances Friday and Saturday in the POWERADE Play Zone.
AutoFair will also feature an outdoor movie night, an auction, Food Lion sampling area, automotive art, giant flea market, camping and more.
The AutoFair runs from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Closing day (Sunday), the fair opens at 8 a.m. and closes at 4 p.m. Tickets are $10 per day for adults, or $25 for a four-day pass. Children younger than 12 are free with an adult. Event parking is $5.
