The beautiful Isabella Santos and her dad trained a couple years ago for an annual 5k in Charlotte benefiting the "Isabella Santos Foundation".
Isabella had a many-year fight with cancer, a battle she lost over the summer. It makes this year's 5k for her Foundation that much more important.
Isabella was full of personality -- she charmed me the second I met her. I think she charmed everyone that way. Her laughter could light up a room. Hopefully her parents feel lots of support at this year's 5k. It's set for next Saturday, the 22nd.
The walk/run will be in Ballantyne Corporate Park. Besides the 5k, there's a one-mile fun run for kids & a Kids Zone with face painting, popcorn, a photo booth... all kinds of stuff. Isabella's mom, Erin, says they're really trying hard to celebrate all that Isabella meant to them and carry the torch in her honor.
Had a moment this morning where I was thinking about Isabella & and her family and wanted to share this information so you guys can share it with others as well. The Isabella Santos Foundation supports Neuroblastoma research but also give proceeds to the Make-a-Wish Foundation & the Ronald McDonald House.
September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month. Too many kids in our area need help, prayers and maybe most of all... research.
