LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) -
The Lancaster County Sheriff's Office says it has arrested a man suspected of stealing batteries from Wal-Mart.
Jeffrey Bernard McKnight, 46, was arrested in Charlotte the first week of September. He was moved to Lancaster County Detention Wednesday. He is being held on $60,000 surety bond and faces several charges of burglary.
Investigators say, in August, McKnight broke into the storage cage behind the Wal-Mart on Charlotte Highway in Indian Land. They say he stole about 150 used car batteries valued at $1350. Surveillance pictures show a man wearing a yellow safety vest. Investigators believe McKnight was attempting to blend in with employees.
McKnight is also accused of breaking into that same Wal-Mart storage cage two other times. In May, investigators say he stole 81 batteries, and then followed up in June to steal an additional 34 batteries.
McKnight faces several charges of burglary. He is being held on $60,000 surety bond.
