IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) -
Deputies in Iredell County say a man broke into a woman's home and assaulted her.
On August 20, the victim called for help, and told deputies a man and woman forced their way into her home on the east side of Statesville. She says the duo used a knife and rope to assault her.
The victim gave investigators a description of the assailants and was taken to Iredell Memorial Hospital for evaluation. The next day, investigators had a suspect sketch created.
Detectives say the investigation led them to James Vernell Jones, 29, of Byers Road. They said Jones matches the victim's description, and the victim identified him during a photo lineup. He is also in a relationship with a woman who matches the description of the female assailant.
Jones was arrested and charged with one count First Degree Burglary, and one count Assault with a Deadly Weapon, with Intent to kill.
WBTV is working to learn the status of the female suspect.
