A Great Falls man accidentally shot himself while trying to fix a handgun for a friend, sheriff's deputies said Monday.
The incident was reported at on Sunday at 9 p.m. at Woodcreek Apartments in Lancaster, according to a news release from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.
Charles Beckham, 46, of Great Falls, shot himself in the stomach when he was taking the gun apart.
Beckham was visiting his friend, 50-year-old Calvin Roberts, trying to help him get his .38-caliber handgun unjammed, deputies say.
Beckham was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital for treatment.
