CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -  A UNC Charlotte student is recovering from a sprained ankle after a balcony collapsed at a condo near the campus.

Police tell WBTV that five people were standing on the second-floor balcony when it fell about 12 feet to the ground. Our news crew on the scene said the balcony appeared to have separated from the building when it fell.

The other four people were not hurt.

It happened  around 1:00 am at the Colville Condominiums on Vinca Circle, off Suther Road. The complex is off campus, but houses a number of UNC Charlotte students.

According to Mecklenburg County tax records, the condo complex was built in 1987.
