It was a polite parting shot and priceless promotional headline for the Queen City came as visitors to the Democratic National Convention headed for the exits.

Friday morning brought a big tent, post card looking skyline, and prominent network anchor who sold our city for another night.

After cueing the announcer, these are the words that hit televisions around the country. "This is the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley reporting tonight from Charlotte, North Carolina."

Scott Pelley and the CBS Evening News called Charlotte home for just one more night.

"I've known Charlotte, and I love Charlotte. Such a beautiful town," Pelley said.

High marks came from Pelley over how our city rolled with changes brought on by the DNC.

"One of the things I noticed was the city handled convention like a big city. "

Coming out of Charlotte how is he handicapping the presidential race.

Pelley said, "This is gonna come down to very few states. North Carolina is one of them. Ohio is important. Florida is another place."

As he signed off, Pelley gave the kind of shout-out that brings pride to a news organization.
