CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - A cold front expected to move through the Carolinas this weekend could bring strong to severe storms on Saturday.
The Storm Prediction Center anticipates that the most likely threat from this system will be damaging, straight-line winds, although large hail will also be possible. As with any thunderstorm, cloud-to-ground lightning will also be a danger.
Storms will likely begin to impact the mountain areas around lunchtime Saturday, then move into the Piedmont in the late afternoon and early evening hours.
The greatest threat for severe weather will remain to our Northeast throughout the New England states where isolated tornadoes will also be possible.
