The City of Hickory will remember 9/11 with a public ceremony on Tuesday, September 11.
The ceremony will take place under The Sails on the Square in Downtown Hickory at 8:30 a.m.
"This annual ceremony allows the community to remember those who lost their lives, the lives that were forever changed, and honor those protecting our freedom today," said Hickory Mayor Rudy Wright.
"We never will forget the events of September 11, 2001 and how it forever transformed our country."
Major General James B. Mallory III, former commander of the Army Reserve's 108th Training Command (IET) which includes the 3/518 Infantry battalion HQ located in Hickory and is currently an attorney in Statesville, will give the memorial address.
