Police make second arrest in deadly north Charlotte shooting

Officers arrested a second man for a deadly shooting in north Charlotte last week.

The second suspect is Trellis Tremayne Rogers, 17. He is charged with Murder, and two counts of Armed Robbery. Officers announced his arrest over the weekend. Brandon Newkirk, 20, was arrested several hours after Wednesday night's shooting. Newkirk is also charged with Murder and two counts of armed robbery.

Investigators believe there was an argument, and Zachary Jamal Pittman, 25, was shot Wednesday night at the intersection of Terrier Way and Yellow Rose Lane.

Pittman ran from the scene, but collapsed on a nearby street.

Officers got the call for shots fired at 8:48 p.m. CMPD reports the response time was 11 minutes. Officers arrived to find Pittman on the ground. Medic pronounced him dead at the scene. 

Thursday, investigators said the men arranged in advance to meet up for a drug transaction.
