Big test, big battle set for WBTV's Ford game of the week

Charlotte, NC - (WBTV)

Outside of any playoff game Porter Ridge and A.L Brown may play, this is going to be there toughest test all season long.

A.L Brown returns such a dynamic offense from last years 12 and 2 season.

Porter Ridge head coach Blair Hardin says his defense will be trying to contain the Wonders, with their speed.

The Pirates are undefeated, and their D is only allowing an average of 9 points per game.

Hardin says they are well balanced on the line and in the secondary, with 8 defensive starters returning from last years 4A state runner-up team.

Strong safety Chris Duffy committed to the Charlotte 49ers earlier this week, but he's also a big weapon on offense with 4 rushing touchdowns through 3 games this season.

As for the home team, the A.L. Brown Wonders, they are also undefeated.

Head coach Mike Newsome's team will have some double-trouble on the ground starting with Kalif Phillips. He has 6 touchdowns on the season, and has already racked up 411 yards on 33 carries. Not to mention another 2 TD receptions.

Halfback Dante Pinkston adds more spark with 3 touchdowns in 2012.

Wide receiver Keon Johnson, a Virginia commit, will be another threat. Look for Johnson to be catching passes from one of the most mobile quarterbacks in the South Piedmont Conference, Keenan Medley.

Kickoff in Kannapolis is set for 7:30pm, this Friday. The 30th season of Football Friday Night begins at 11:35pm, for one hour.
