A look inside WBTV's skybox at DNC

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

All week WBTV's Molly Grantham and Jamie Boll are anchoring WBTV News at 5:30 from our perch in Time Warner Cable Arena, home of the Democratic National Convention.

Imagine having to fit 30 people into your bathroom at home and you'll have an idea of the tight space they are working in.

"It changes," said WBTV's Molly Grantham. "You really have to be fluid."

WBTV Field Producer Laura Houston is the air traffic controller in the WBTV skybox high above the convention floor.

Houston directs anchors and photographers on where to be and when they are going on air as well as interviews with elected officials and other talking heads.

"It's been fun," Houston said. "You really get a feel of the atmosphere of the convention from up here."

In addition to WBTV, the skybox is shared with CBS News.

Network Correspondent Randall Pinkston is working right alongside WBTV's Steve Crump.

And celebrities are no stranger to the skybox either.

Biff Henderson, a make-shift correspondent for the Late Show with David Letterman dropped by to see how things were going.

Will WBTV make a cameo in late night this week?

Guess you'll just have to tune in with the rest of us.
