One person has died in a crash near Harrisonville, MO, Thursday evening. The crash happened on Missouri Highway 7 and Walker Road. It involved a car and a tractor-trailer. Harrisonville is in Cass County.More >>

After a Lancaster Country person sent $60,000 to a bogus Christian dating website, the Sheriff's Department is issuing a warning for people to be careful of computer fraud.
In the latest incident, an online predator convinced a Lancaster County resident to send money so he could get out of the Ukraine and come to the United States.
"Many of these scams originate from other states and other countries," said Sheriff Barry Faile. "This makes investigation and prosecution very difficult."
Other scams include people being advised they've won a prize, but must first send money to collect the winnings. Another is a request for money in order to get a family member our of jail in a foreign country.
"The best weapon against these types of crimes is education and prevention," Faile said. "If you're ever confronted with a scenario that seems to good to be true, contact the sheriff's department. We can most likely help you determine the validity of the information."
