DNC Starts Today/Major Traffic Issues

Good morning to you on this Tuesday, 4 September 2012, from the WBTV News morning team...John Carter reporting to you this morning.

Be sure to join us from 4:30 to 7:00 this morning...we have a lot to tell you about that's sure to help you get your day going right!

We're going to have live team coverage as the Democratic National Convention opens today...First Lady Michelle Obama will be speaking at Time Warner Cable Arena tonight...she'll be preceded by North Carolina Governor Beverly Perdue and Charlotte Mayor Anthony Foxx.

But the big story of the morning is going to be TRAFFIC!  With streets shut down and security checkpoints around uptown, getting around could be a nightmare!  CATS buses are back on schedule, but there is a new, temporary transit center.  Also...much more traffic is expected on the Lynx light rail.  We've got it all covered for you in several live reports.

You may be wondering what today's weather is going to be like after what happened Monday.  Rain, sometimes heavy, shortened the James Taylor concert in uptown and otherwise made a mess of things.  Al Conklin's working on your First Alert Weather forecast and can tell you exactly what to expect today...better keep your umbrella handy!

Protestors were out last night and into the early morning hours.  Police were out with them as well.  We have the latest on what happened.

Astrid Martinez has a very interesting story this morning...with a bit of a twist.  It's about lying...and its impact on your health.  Don't miss this one!

That controversial book on the Osama Bin Laden raid, written by a former Navy SEAL, will hit store bookshelves today.

All that and so much more...be sure to join us this morning from 4:30 to 7:00 AM for the area's best morning newscast.  See you then!
