SWAT Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested a man they say is responsible for shooting two women a week before.
Paicos Raynardo Lucas, 40, was taken into custody around 9 a.m. Friday morning and taken to police headquarters to be interviewed. The CMPD Robbery Unit obtained warrants for Lucas' arrest that included two counts of first degree attempted murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, first degree burglary, and possession of a firearm by a felon.
The warrants are related to a home invasion robbery that happened around 4 a.m. on Friday, August 24, on Alma Court in north Charlotte that sent two women to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
The two victims originally told investigators that they heard a knock on their door, and found a man standing on the porch. The man told them that he had just been in an accident, and asked to come inside. When the women refused, the man tried to shove his way into the house. During the struggle, the man pulled out a gun and shot both women in the chest before fleeing the scene.
Police later told WBTV that the shooting was drug-related.
The two women were still at Carolinas Medical Center recovering from their wounds Friday afternoon.
