Waxhaw, NC (WBTV) -Marvin Ridge High School had a tough week on and off the football field this past week first losing to Ardrey Kell last Friday, then they found out they would have to forfeit their week one victory against East Meck due to an ineligible player.
The violation was self-reported to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association and per their rules Marvin Ridge had to forfeit their game against East Meck.
High school qualifications for the playoffs are based on a 10 game schedule, so teams that play 11 games have to drop one non-conference match-up from their schedule.
Marvin Ridge Head Coach Scott Chadwick said the failure to complete the eligibility for the player in question was not the fault of any of their players, their families or anyone involved on the coaching staff.
