CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
A Charlotte woman plead guilty Thursday to involuntary manslaughter in the bar stabbing of a Charlotte mother.
Katie Nicole Robinson, 32, plead guilty to the charge in Mecklenburg County Court. She was sentenced to three years of supervised probation.
According to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police, officers were called to an assault at Hartigan's Irish Pub along 601 South Cedar Street around 2:21 a.m. Sunday morning.
When they arrived, they found Antoinette Latoya Baker, 30, lying in an outdoor common area of the bar near the parking lot.
Witnesses told police several women, including Baker and 32-year-old Katie Nicole Robinson, had been fighting in the restroom. Their brawl spilled out of the bar where Baker was stabbed with a beer bottle.
In court Thursday, prosecutors say witness testimonies differed as to who started the fight.
They say it would have been difficult to prove to a jury that Robinson didn't act in self-defense.
Baker's family said they feel some closure, but wish Robinson would have received jail time.
"She did get some punishment, was it enough? Of course I say no, but I know God is going to handle it,' said Sharon Carr, Baker's Aunt.
Baker was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where she later died.
Police say the two women did not know each other.
Baker's six children are now living with her mother.
