Woman Shot As She Confronts Men In Car

Good morning on this Thursday, 30 August 2012, from the WBTV News morning team...John Carter reporting to you this morning.

We have a lot of news that's happened overnight to tell you about this morning when you join us from 4:30 to 5:00 AM.

A wild story from Cam Man Ron Lee.  He joins us live to tell us about a woman who police say was shot as she confronted the men who were in her stolen car!  Ron tells us the woman was driving a friend's car when she spotted her own car at a convenience store...then went up to the men who were inside.  Even after being shot, the woman went after the car when it took off...lost sight of it...then called police.

We'll have the latest on tropical storm Isaac...which continues to bring a lot of rain to Gulf coast states.

Astrid Martinez has a very interesting story about a local company building fences...for dogs in need!

Christine Nelson has an all-new See, Click, Fix investigation...looking into a pedestrian crosswalk signal that viewers say isn't working properly.

Two people ended up in the hospital....after a botched armed robbery around last night on  Eastway Drive in East Charlotte.  We'll explain what happened.

WBTV has confirmed a 77-year old woman from Kannapolis has died from the West Nile virus.

A big night at the Republican National Convention coming up...as Mitt Romney will accept the GOP's presidential nomination.  Vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan had the crowd on its feet last night during his acceptance speech. 

It's a big night for sports fans as the college football season gets underway!  The ninth-ranked Gamecocks of the University of South Carolina will be taking on Vanderbilt.

NFL action as well.  The Carolina Panthers wrap up their preseason with a game in Pittsburgh against the Steelers.  Many starters, including receiver Steve Smith, will not be playing tonight.
