CLOVER, SC (WBTV) -
Seven years ago, Hurricane Katrina forced John Bach leave Slidell, Louisiana not far from New Orleans. It wasn't the high winds, but rather what the volatile flood waters did to his home.
Bach said, "I remember evacuating. We got back and I think we had 20 something feet of water where we stayed. Our refrigerator was shoved into the ceiling.We wouldn't have made it."
Hurricane Isaac's unpredictability is bringing its share of flash backs.
"After Katrina we stayed in a FEMA trailer" he recalls. "We stayed there for about six months. Well I did anyway, and there was tornado that came over there and took the trailer and slammed it back down. A week later I insulated my uncles house got 100 bucks, hopped a train and been up here ever since."
Bach has resettled in Clover, South Carolina and works as welder.
Regardless of the hurricanes impact, Bach's focus is on those who may have to ride this storm out.
"I think about my family that is still there, and hope that they're smart enough to leave out of town," Bach said.
