Collection services change for week of convention

Posted: Updated:

The City of Charlotte sent out a reminder about changes to collection services during the week of the Democratic National Convention.

From September 3-7, residential garbage and recycling services will be provided on a normal schedule. Yard waste and bulky item collections will be suspended until after the DNC. Please remember to keep the sidewalk free from obstruction.

All garbage and recycling collection inside vehicle-restricted areas in Uptown will occur on the regularly scheduled day, between 12:01 a.m. and 6 a.m. This includes locations serviced by the City and private haulers.

Solid Waste Services installed 45 new steel recycling containers in Uptown to expand the on-street recycling program. There are now 80 total cans Uptown. You can place the following inside the containers:

  • aerosol cans
  • aluminum
  • cardboard
  • glass
  • juice boxes
  • milk and juice cartons
  • papers
  • plastics
  • spiral paper cans
  • steel/tin cans

The items above are the same items you can recycle at home.
