Brand new school uniforms at cost

(Charlotte)WBTV  First day back at school meant a struggle deciding  what to wear for some kids.  But for students at 46 CMS schools it was easy, because they wear uniforms.  But the cost of uniforms varies from $12.99 for pants to $25 dollars for a shirt.    At the Assistance League Thrift Store on South Tryon in Charlotte a complete brand new uniform, pants and shirt, cost only $12!  They are selling brand new uniforms at their cost.

I spoke with one shopper who said she believes wearing a uniform is a real advantage for her cousin. She said, "Everybody looks the same. You don't have to fight for attention because everybody has the same thing on!"   She was really impressed with the prices at the Assistance League thrift store. Uniform pants are $7.50.  Shirts will run you just $4.50!

The pants are flat front, no pleats.  Thrift Store Chairman Jane Gregor said the kids like the flat front better.  And the pants, she says, "Are boys and girls and they and have a five inch band on either side that is adjustable."

The Assistance League Thrift store allows families to buy three sets per size or child.  And they have sizes 5 to 16!

Keep in mind these are brand new uniforms!!  And any money you spend at the Assistance League Thrift store is helping others.  In fact, 70 percent of the money made in the thrift store goes to fund the Assistance League's philanthropic projects.

Last school year the Assistance League helped thousands of families across our region through several of their programs from Teen Court to Operation Check Hunger.

The Thrift Store also carries shoes.  Parents remember kids are required to wear closed toed shoes at uniform schools.
