Now days, it seems that politicians are always in the news for the wrong reasons.
Scandals, missteps, inappropriate behavior – we never know what will come next.
Enter Dan Ramirez.
Ramirez, a former county commissioner led by example.
He has been lifelong volunteer serving on several non-profit boards and assisting wherever he saw a need.
An amazing resume for a kid from a Barrio in Bogota, Colombia.
And he is not done yet.
In February, Dan Ramirez was diagnosed with ALS, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease.
He could have retreated to the privacy of his home dealing with the challenge surrounded by family.
That is not Dan's style.
Instead, he is organizing a fundraiser at the Duke Mansion on August 28th.
Proceeds of the event will go to support the Joe Martin ALS Foundation.
Once again, Dan Ramirez harnesses his influence to help others in our community.
Margaret Mead once said,
"Never believe that a few caring people can't change the world. For indeed that's all who ever have. "
Dan Ramirez is one of those people and we thank him for his continued service in the face of adversity.
He now runs the ultimate race.
