DNC Anarchist Threat Memo

Good morning to you on this Thursday, 23 August 2012, from the WBTV News morning team...John Carter reporting to you this morning.

Plenty going on overnight that we'll tell you about when you join us from 4:30 to 5:00 AM today.

Cam Man Ron Lee joins us live...he's been pouring over documents overnight after a memo came out from Homeland Security...officials say anarchist extremists may be coming from other states to cause trouble during the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.  Ron tells us what police are doing in preparation.

And speaking of the DNC...some additional changes are coming uptown...CMPD HQ will be closed to the public...as will the Government Center parking deck.

Meteorologist Al Conklin is keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Isaac this morning.  It's predicted to hit Florida on Monday...and the mayor of Tampa says he will cancel the Republican National Convention IF Isaac poses a threat to people in his city.

A great story, all new, from Astrid Martinez just as school is about to start.  She'll be live this morning with the story of how a local mother helped her children avoid the summer slide and become academically stronger as they prepare to start school next week.  Astrid has tips from that mother that could help you with your children.

We'll tell you about another armed robbery at a fast food restaurant in Charlotte...this one at a McDonald's on Central Avenue in east Charlotte.

Christine Nelson has an all new See, Click, Fix story for you this morning...she'll show us what's happened after she first reported problems with a handicap ramp in front of a local post office.

Plus...find out how "Hurricane" Al Conklin did in the Media Mayhem races at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

All that and so much more...when you join us for WBTV News This Morning from 4:30 to 7:00 AM.
