Parties, events and concerts... oh my!

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – The star power that will be in town for the Democratic National Convention is looking so bright you just might need some shades.

Every day we are hearing about more celebrities coming to the Queen City the week of the DNC.  From Eva Longoria to Jessica Alba to the Foo Fighters, there is going be a ton of opportunity to do some celeb-watching.

WBTV's Brigida Mack is on the entertainment beat –and she will keep you up to date on the who's who of the DNC.

The list of events is already impressive!

Camp Freddy, an all star band with singer Dave Navarro as the front man will be playing at the Fountain Plaza on the grounds of the N.C. Music Factory Monday, September 3.

Big names often jump in to play with the band so you never know who might join what's being called a "jam session."

(**NEW**) Former President Bill Clinton is teaming up with of the Black Eyed Peas for a DNC fundraiser.  "A Party Two Decades in the Making" will be held at the Westin Hotel, September 4. The event begins at 5 p.m. and tickets start at $150.

James Taylor and Janelle Monae both part of the lineup for performers for CarolinaFest 2012. They will perform on the main stage along with Jeff Bridges (yes, the actor) and his band, The Abiders.

Also, happening on the grounds of the Music Factory Monday night: an invitation-only official kick-off to the 2012 Impact Film Festival at the DNC. Actor Jeff Bridges will be there along with Adrien Grenier of HBO's "Entourage."

The event, which celebrates, films, filmmakers, policy leaders and actors who are involved in creating films for social change, will also feature a musical performance by The Honey Brothers. Butter Lounge is the venue and the event runs from 8 p.m.-11 p.m.

Noah Lazes, co-owner of the N.C. Music Factory, says their schedule the week of the DNC is packed.

"There's stuff almost every night," he said.

Events are happening all over town.

Comedian D.L. Hughley is headlining a comedy Tuesday, September 4. The "One World Comedy Jam" starts at 9 p.m. in the Belk Theater at Blumenthal. Actor-comedian Tommy Davidson is also on tap to perform.

There are several events on Wednesday, September 5:

  • The Foo Fighters are having a benefit concert for "Rock The Vote" at the Fillmore Charlotte at the N.C. Music Factory. The show starts at 9 p.m. but tickets sold out in five minutes, a new record for the venue!
  • Travis Tritt, Lee Brice and The Charlie Daniels Band are all set to hit the stage at Bojangles Coliseum. Called the "Rock the Red" concert, the doors open at 4:15 p.m.
  • For R&B lovers, how about "An Intimate Evening with KEM"? The fan favorite will be performing at Ovens Auditorium. The show starts at 9 p.m.

Back at the NC Music Factory, a huge finale party is planned for Thursday September 6.  The celebration, called the Super-O-Rama Party the Fillmore Charlotte.

Actress Jessica Alba will be hosting the event which takes place at The Fillmore Charlotte. Rapper Pitbull and the band, Scissor Sisters will be there to perform.
