Boone, NC (WBTV) -The NCAA Division One Football Championship Series released its pre-season poll Wendesday and the Appalachian State Mountaineers will start off the season ranked number five.

Their Southern Conference rival Georgia Southern is ranked two spots ahead of the Mountaineers at number three.

And defending national champion North Dakota State will begin the season where they left off at number one.
