Woman robbed at knifepoint, police looking for suspect

Police in Monroe are looking for a man they say robbed a woman at knifepoint.

Around 9 a.m., officers responded to an armed robbery on King Street. A woman was retrieving items from her vehicle when an unknown man came up behind her. The man put a knife to her side and demanded money.

The woman gave the man an undisclosed amount of cash then the man tried to order the woman to take him to a bank in order to get more money. The woman refused and the suspect fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10" to 6'0" tall, 20-30 years old and dark skinned.  He was wearing a black hat, light gray long sleeve shirt and light gray sweat pants. The suspect may have dreadlock style hair.

A person matching this description was captured on video surveillance in the area just prior to the robbery. Anyone with information about this robbery or the suspect's identity is urged to call Union County Crime Stoppers at 704-283-5600. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered.
