Discovery Place will have modified operating hours during the week of the Democratic National Convention September 2–6.
As a participant in CarolinaFest 2012, the DNC's family-friendly convention week kick-off celebration, the Museum will be open Monday, September 3 from noon–5:00 p.m. and will offer half-price admission.
Discovery Place will be hosting private events and will be closed to the public Sunday, September 2 and Tuesday, September 4–Thursday, September 6.

Beginning Friday, September 7, 2012 Discovery Place's fall hours will take effect. General Museum operating hours will be as follows:
- Monday – Friday: 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Saturday: 10:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m.
- Sunday: noon–5:00 p.m.
New this fall, guests can explore much more in Discovery Place's Explore More labs with themes and activities that will magnify their experience, including an all-new display of Museum objects in the Explore More Collections lab that showcases the many ways color is found in nature.
Don't miss the opportunity to view real human heart specimens and observe pig heart dissections Saturdays throughout September at 11:00 a.m. as part of the Explore More Life lab's focus on the human body.
And for visitors that are beyond this world, the Explore More Stuff lab will offer special hands-on activities throughout National Aerospace Week September 16–22.
Discovery Place KIDS-Huntersville and Charlotte Nature Museum will remain open to the public throughout the DNC and will extend operating hours on Monday, September 3 from 9:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
Discovery Place is located in uptown Charlotte at 301 N. Tryon Street. Convenient parking is available in the Museum's parking deck – the Carol Grotnes Belk Complex – at the corner of Sixth and Church Streets.
