IREDELL COUNTY, NC (WBTV) - Not good news for coach Scott Miller at South Iredell, they will be without one of their best defensive players for a while.
Starting Linebacker Lachanston Smith will be out a minimum of 6 weeks due to a fractured fibula. Smith broke a bone in his foot last season and missed about 6 weeks so another tough injury for the senior.
Smith has already verbally committed to Virginia and was also a big key on the offense for the Vikings as well.
The team is hoping he can return before the end of the season to help in a playoff push.
South Iredell has a stern challenge this friday as they host the #8 team in our Speedee Oil FFN Top 10 in Statesville.
