CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - It isn't easy to be a kid whose mom or dad is deployed in another country fulfilling their duties with the military.
That's where Operation Homefront of North Carolina steps in.
The organization helps families with school supplies, holiday toys, food, and fun activities.
To help pay for their efforts, Operation Homefront will hold it's Freedom 5K Run and Walk on August 25th. This year's event will also have a 100 yard kid dash.
Jane Weaver, president of Operation Homefront of North Carolina visited WBTV News Saturday morning to talk about the event.
