DNC police plan-- fewer school resource officers?

Hello again everyone, it's Paul Cameron in the WBTV newsroom.

Tonight at 5:00PM—CMPD expects to use all its manpower to police the Democratic National Convention in two weeks.  But will shifting officers uptown mean schools will suffer with fewer Resource Officers?  We're looking into CMPD's plans to cover all bases.

We've got a very cool story about a new "micro technology" way to protect your property.  Consumer reporter Kristen Miranda discovered a Charlotte company that specializes in Data Dots, which are similar to tiny pant drops, except these dots contain information that can be read with extreme magnification.  The auto industry has begun using data dots on car parts to identify where it came from in case of theft.  But these dots also have a huge implication for your everyday items.  We'll explain at 5:00PM.

Not only do the Panthers play an exhibition against the Dolphins at Bank of America Stadium tonight, it's kickoff for the 30th season of Football Friday night.  We've got our fingers crossed that thunderstorms hold off until much later.
