CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Another round of showers and storms is headed for the Carolinas as a cold front makes its way through the region.
Severe thunderstorms that develop will bring large hail and damaging winds. All thunderstorms can produce dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, and if you are close enough to hear thunder, you're close enough to be struck by lightning.
Another concern will be flash flooding. Storms could produce heavy downpours, bringing an inch of rain in as little as 15 minutes. Low lying and heavily saturated areas are at higher risk of flooding.
Once the cold front moves out, drier air moves in behind it. The front should push east this evening.
