Charlotte, NC (WBTV) -Providence Day is hard at work hoping to defend their first independent schools state title since 1986.
They have 19 of 22 starters returning after losing only five players.
One of them coming back is senior quarterback Chase Ferguson who threw for 1, 585 yards and 11 touchdowns last year.
Head Coach Bruce Hardin says he knows they will have a target on their backs but going out and working hard is the answer to that problem.
