ALBEMARLE, NC (WBTV) -
Police in Stanly County said Tuesday a man is under arrest, accused of making pipe bombs.
Thomas Scott Kaiser, 40, was arrested Friday at about 9 a.m. after a joint investigation by the Albemarle Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, NC SBI, Stanly County Sheriff's Office, Cabarrus County Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad, SBI Bomb Squad, NC Wildlife Resource Commission and Stanly County EMS.
Investigators served a search warrant at a home on Mountain Creek Road in Albemarle after neighbors reported loud explosions coming from the property over the weekend.
Officers said a search of the house and storage building led to the discovery of several firearms, and materials to make explosive devices. Investigators said they did find one pipe bomb and the bomb technicians took care of it.
Investigators said there is no evidence of any reason for the public to be concerned.
Kaiser is charged with manufacture, assembly and possession of a weapon of mass destruction. He is in jail under $10,000 bond and is expected in court August 13th.
