CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -
Businesses and residents in Uptown Charlotte will see a disruption in everyday services during the Democratic National Convention.
For security reasons, streets will be closed around convention venues like The Time Warner Cable Arena, The Convention Center and Bank of America Stadium.
The street closures mean deliveries will be restricted. Both Fedex and The U.S. Postal Service confirm to WBTV that their collection boxes will be removed from the Uptown area during the DNC. A spokesperson for Fedex says as soon the company learns more specifics about the security plan for the area - they will post contingency plans on their website.
A spokesperson for the Post Office says "we've been advised there will be some restrictions as to where our employees will be able to travel so we are putting in place procedures to ensure all customers will have access to their mail and other postal services throughout the period of the convention."
Postal workers says customers who will not be able to send or receive mail will get advance warnings and receive instructions as to what to do.
Restaurant suppliers and distributors say they've been told they can make deliveries only during the early hours... between 3am and 6am. Most restaurants say they usually don't have staff working that early to receive deliveries. Owners are trying to come up plans to stock their restaurants.
