A sweeping cold front is bringing much cooler temperatures across the country and several days of rain for the Charlotte region.
WBTV Meteorologist Al Conklin says heavy downpours are expected anytime after 3 p.m. Monday. Conklin says new rainfall amounts between a quarter and half an inch of rainfall.
Highs are expected to be in the uppers 80s Monday with high humidity. The chances of rain are above 50 percent through most of the week, Conklin said.
The Charlotte area is already down a half inch of rain for the month of August with 0.21 inches of rainfall recorded.
Since Jan. 1, the area has seen 20.27 inches of rainfall, 4.84 inches below average.
Conklin says the biggest threat from the downpours this week is localized flooding.
