Lancaster man shot during fight in roadway, deputies say

LANCASTER, SC (WBTV) -

A Lancaster man was arrested Sunday after deputies say he shot another man when they got into a fight after midnight Saturday.

The incident was reported at 12:18 a.m. on the 2100 block of JB Denton Road in Lancaster, according to a news release from the Lancaster County Sheriff's Office.

William Lee Adams, 42, of Lancaster, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Deputies say Adams shot James David Phillips, 41, got into a physical fight in front of Adams' home. During the fight, Adams pulled out a handgun and shot Phillips one time.

Adams was taken to the Lancaster County Detention Center.
