STATESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV/AP) - An Iredell County woman who had 200 animals seized from her home last week is now charged with cruelty.
The Associated Press is reporting 50 of the cats taken from Angie Funderburk's home had to be put down.
An animal control officer went to investigate a complaint about the living conditions at Funderburk's 900-square-foot home Friday afternoon. Then, 198 cats and three dogs were seized.
"Some have ringworm," Iredell County Animal Shelter Director Chris Royal said at the time. "The smell of ammonia would knock you over. Officers had to keep coming out every 10 minutes while we were trying to catch the cats, just to get a breath of fresh air because the ammonia was burning our lungs and noses."
Four more cats were found and removed Monday.
It is not clear if Funderburk has an attorney.
