CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - Storms that rolled through the Carolinas on Friday brought more than just rain and lightning. Hail and damaging winds were seen throughout the area.
Several Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued when upper level disturbances triggered the storms late Friday afternoon. Fueled by the very warm, moist air, the storms quickly gained strength.
In Tega Cay, trees were uprooted, toppling onto vehicles. Power lines were downed in Burke and Chesterfield counties.
With fewer disturbances expected to move in from the West, fewer storms are likely today, but isolated severe weather cannot be ruled out.
