The Queen City is fortunate to be home to many national corporations.
One great benefit that offers Charlotte is the resources these businesses make available to the people of the city.
The Snyder's-Lance Company provides an example of this generosity, as it celebrates the 100-year anniversary of the Lance brand.
The Lance Foundation will make one-time grants totaling 1 point 5 million dollars to 13 Charlotte-area non-profit organizations.
With help from the Center for Corporate Philanthropy at Foundation for the Carolinas,
Snyder's-Lance reviewed nearly 100 applications from local non-profits.
The 13 selected are varied in the services they provide, and will therefore help many throughout the Charlotte community.
The Hornets' Nest Council of the Girls Scouts received funds to build the Oak Springs Girl Scout Camp.
Project L.I.F.T. put their grant towards supporting educational efforts in the classroom.
The Second Harvest Food Bank will expand the organization's current backpack program.
And Loaves and Fishes will now be able to purchase an 18-foot panel truck for food deliveries to pantries and to pick up donations from local food drives.
In addition, Snyder's-Lance will make product donations and provide volunteer opportunities for its associates.
Congratulations to Lance for 100 years…and thank you for celebrating in such a big way.
