CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) - With high pressure building back into the Carolinas triple digit heat indices are returning to the forecast. Heat Advisories are in effect for much of the area, including Charlotte and Mecklenburg county.
Impulses have been moving around the periphery of high pressure centered well to our west. With the hot temperatures and high humidity, those disturbances had no problem triggering strong to severe thunderstorms the last several afternoons.
Now that area of high pressure has expanded to cover the Carolinas, dropping this afternoon's storm chances, but compressing the atmosphere and heating up our temperatures into the mid to upper 90s.
Storm chances return once again to the forecast Friday, and temperatures start to fall by the weekend.
