Deputy killed responding to a domestic dispute

Hello again everyone, it's Paul Cameron in the WBTV newsroom.

Tonight at 5:00PM—a young law officer shot down in the prime of his life.  Deputy William Mast, only 23 years old, responded to a domestic dispute overnight.  When he arrived at the mobile home in Deep Gap, someone inside opened fire.  Mast was hit and killed, but his partner returned fire and killed the shooter.  Deputy Mast leaves behind a pregnant wife and family in the area.  Our Steve Ohnesorge is working to get new details.

Once again, we're pushing daily temperature records.  It's dog gone hot and Eric Thomas says it won't get much better this weekend.

On my weekly Crimestoppers report tonight, I've got exclusive video of a man police say has robbed area convenience stores at least ten times.  They worry he may soon use his gun instead of just threaten clerks with it.
