LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) -

LINCOLNTON, NC (WBTV) - Lincolnton Police and state investigators are searching for clues after the bodies of a man and woman were found inside a home in Lincoln County.

Sheriff's officials received a call this morning that someone had found the bodies of Michael, 58, and Bonnie Vincent, 53.

According Lincolnton Police Chief Rodney Jordan, officers were called to the scene after someone found the pair on Thursday morning and called 911.

Justin Hester told WBTV he found his neighbors after going to their house to check on them.

Hester said they were typically at home with the door open because they didn't have air conditioning. Tuesday, he knocked on their door and no one answered.

Thursday, he tried again and went inside when no one came to the door for a second time.  That's when he says he saw two bodies.

"I screamed," said Hester. "And I backed out the door, fell over the door. I was in so much shock, I didn't even think to use my cell phone. I ran to a neighbor's to call 911. I guess I didn't want to believe they were dead."

The home is along the 1600 block of Broome Street.

The State Bureau of Investigation is on the scene assisting police, and the case is being treated as a homicide for now.

Chief Jordan said there have been no previous calls for service at the address.

Friday, many neighbors stayed indoors and kept to themselves, which is unusual for the neighborhood. Several residents said they were worried that no arrests had been made.

"If it can happen to them, it can happen to anyone," said R.Z. Estep, who knew Bonnie and Mike for five years. "Just the nicest people that you can meet. It's just devastating that this can happen to them."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Lincolnton Police Department at 704-736-8900.
