Firefighters rescue dog in two alarm apartment fire

CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV) -

Firefighters responded to a two alarm apartment fire in University City Wednesday morning.

The incident was reported on the 6400 block of Countryside Drive at the Townes at University Pointe apartments, according to the Charlotte Fire Department.

Fire investigators say the fire started in one unit where no one was home at the time.

The fire damaged at least two other units.

A dog was rescued from the apartment fire.

The American Red Cross was on scene assisting families who had been displaced as a result of the fire.
