SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) -
A father driving with his two sons was killed early Monday morning in Salisbury.
The incident was reported at 6:40 a.m. at the intersection of E. Innes Street and Jake Alexander Boulevard, according to the Salisbury Police Department.
William H. Robins, 46, of Denton, was ejected from his 1983 Ford van. Police found him under his vehicle deceased.
Robins' sons, ages 20 and 21, were also in the van and were taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
The other vehicle was a 1991 Chrysler driven by 56-year-old Stephen Burrow, of Salisbury.
Burrow's was also taken to Rowan Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.
Police say Robins ran through the flashing red light at E. Innes Street hitting Burrow's Chrysler that was traveling on E. Innes Street towards Salisbury, police said.
Police say Burrow's had the right of way and speed does not appear to be a factor in the crash.
Robins was wearing a seat belt.
The lights at the intersection were on flash mode because of an unknown power surge early Monday morning which tripped the lights.
