Charlotte, NC - (WBTV)
The Olympic torch has arrived in London, and the athlete's are piling in. Charlotte's SwimMAC team sent 5 Olympians overseas. Kara Lynn Joyce, Micah Lawrence, Nick Thoman, Davis Tarwater and Cullen Jones.
Jones is hoping to bring home an individual medal this time. The N.C. State grad won gold in the 4 by 100 freestyle event at the 2008 games in Beijing. This time Jones will compete in that same event .. along with 2 individual events; the 50 and 100 freestyle.
The Olympics begin next Friday, and while more medals are on Cullen's mind he says he'll try to enjoy the whole experience this time around. "There was a lot of pressure last time, and the French team was talking a lot of smack. There was a lot on my mind as well, that didn't really sink in. This time I brought a new camera, I'll be talking a lot of pictures".
SwimMAC director of coaching and Team USA assistant coach Dave Marsh says everybody loves Cullen, he brings a lot of spirit and courage to the team.
