IREDELL COUNTY (WBTV) - Lanes on I-40 West in Iredell
County are closed this weekend for resurfacing work on bridges. At least one lane will be closed throughout
the weekend.
Here is the information from NC DOT:
Weather permitting,
N.C. Department of Transportation crews will close both lanes of Interstate 40
West in Iredell County overnight this weekend for bridge deck resurfacing. Both
lanes of I-40 West will be closed at mile marker 148 starting at 8 p.m. on
Saturday, July 21, until Sunday, July 22, at 6 a.m.
In addition, one of two
lanes will be closed on I-40 West between mile markers 148 and 146 from Friday,
July 20 at 8 p.m. until Sunday, July 22, at noon.
During both closures, motorists
are advised to take the following posted detour route:

From I-40 West, take exit 148 and turn left onto U.S. 64 East (Garner Bagnal
Boulevard).

Follow U.S. 64 East, then turn right onto U.S. 70 West (Hickory Highway).
·
Follow U.S. 70 West, then turn right onto Stamey Farm Road and follow that to
get back onto I-40 at mile marker 146.
Crews will be replacing the existing I-40 bridge deck with a latex
concrete overlay. Additional night and weekend lane closures may be required.
