A serial burglar is on-the-loose in Charlotte

A serial burglar is on-the-loose in Charlotte near Park Road, South Boulevard and Old Pineville.

The same man is doing the same thing over and over.  He arrives by bicycle.

"Same guy, same method," said CMPD Detective Marty Cuthbertson

He checks if the coast is clear.  Then pulls out a pry bar, sticks it in the door, and pops the glass until it shatters.  The alarm sounds, but he's in—in to a bakery owned by Unis Marcado.

She opened her bakery on Old Pineville Road a year and a half ago after emigrating from Venezuela, because she thought there was too much crime there.

"When I came here I felt security, but with this, when I come in the morning I am worried because I don't know what I will find."

For good reason, because twice in three weeks, the same Hispanic man who wears an Atlanta Braves hat has broken in her store, cracked open the register and taken her petty cash.

The damage he causes is far worse that the cost of what he steals.

"I have a small business, I am beginning and everything that's new that I have to buy is hard for me."

Detective Cuthbertson says burglar has done the same thing at least 15 times often, hitting three and four businesses a day.

"He starts up at Park Road, comes down to South Boulevard, and over here to Old Pineville, all within a close proximity to each other.  I think he lives in this area."

The bakery owner says she's both angry and scared and wants him caught.  If you can help, call Crimestoppers at (704) 334-1600, you could earn a reward of up to $1,000.
